iGaming Game Mathematician

Purpose

• This document outlines the preferred qualifications, skills, experience, and assessment criteria for hiring a Game Mathematician for an iGaming studio developing slot games, instant-win games, crash games, lotteries, and other RNG-based products.

Educational Background

• Preferred degrees: Mathematics, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Physics, Actuarial Science, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related quantitative discipline. Master's degree is preferred but not mandatory.

Core Mathematical Competencies

• Probability theory and combinatorics
• Statistical analysis and hypothesis testing
• Random number generation concepts
• Expected value calculations
• RTP (Return to Player) design and verification
• Hit frequency calculations
• Volatility and risk modeling
• Monte Carlo simulation techniques
• Markov chains (advantageous)

Technical Skills

• Advanced Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets
• Python preferred (NumPy, Pandas, simulation libraries)
• R, C#, C++, or Java considered a plus
• Ability to build simulation models and analytical tools
• Experience validating large simulation datasets

Industry Experience

Ideal candidates should have experience in one or more of the following areas:

• Design and maintain mathematical models for games

• Model volatility, hit frequency, and player experience
• Run and validate Monte Carlo simulations
• Work closely with producers, designers, and developers
• Support certification and compliance processes

Practical experience shipping games is generally more valuable than pure academic credentials.
